Barcelona Corearte Choir Festival, in its ninth edition, has combined choral music from Argentine, Mexican, Brazilian and Ecuadorian groups, along with the best of Catalan choral music.
A week where the excellent coexistence of all groups, the good level of the concerts, as well as the creative work of the international workshops, the core of our work, has been highlighted.
We started the festival with a Welcome workshop conducted by Federico Trindade, who came from the city of Aalborg – Denmark- to bring a touch of dynamism and musical games to start in the best way the adventure implied in joining singers through music.
Choral workshops were in the hands of conductors Amarilis Pagan Vila, from Puerto Rico, who brought us to the rhythms and music of the Caribbean, and the Barcelona conductor Josep Prats, who carried out a workshop on the participatory numbers of Carmina Burana, all sang at the end of the edition in the closing concert with Sinera and Cantiga choirs, from Barcelona.
We can highlight plenty of things from the week we spent together at the Festival, there were many moments of music, games, laughter, discovery of the beautiful landscapes Barcelona offers, unforgettable concerts such as the Abbey of Montserrat and the Crypt of the Sagrada Familia, or the excellent concert at the auditorium of the University of Barcelona.
The conductor Josep Prats together with the Cantiga Choral of Barcelona offered a recital commented by all participants as to be a musical point of excellence.
An excellent concert of Carmina Burana at the Jardí Theatre of Figueres was the culmination of a very rich choral gathering in music and experiences. The offered version of Carmina Burana was the one reduced to two pianos, percussion, soloists and choir, with David Malet and Daniel Garcia at the piano, the soloist Ulrike Haller (soprano), Jordi Domènech (countertenor) and Germán de la Riva (bass), drums from Barcelona and Cantiga and Sinera Choirs, under the musical conduction of Josep Prats.
The choirs have come back to their countries very happy and we have finished plenty of energy, already preparing the tenth edition of Barcelona Corearte for next year.
See you at the Barcelona X Corearte 2016!
