Jovens Cantores de Guimarães

Started in 2011 by the Musical Society of Guimarães and by initiative Janet Costa Ruiz, the CJCG is an artistic education project that offers young people between the ages of 8 and 18 the practice of choral music. Based on the principle that all children can sing, it seeks to awaken the taste for singing and performance, stimulate creativity, imagination and leadership. Its main objective is to achieve a high level of musical performance, through contact with the works of different eras and cultures.

In 2013 he participated in the XVIIII Choir Meeting Minho, presented with the Children’s Choir of the University of Lisbon, took the program Roaming in the Northern Region, (initiative supported by the Regional Directorate of Culture of North) and became part of the international program VOZ (Voice on Innovation for Choral Music in Europe).

In the 2014 season, CJCG presented in concert in several stages in the north, in the National Help Palace and the Aula Magna of the University of Lisbon. This season began with the second cycle of Guimarães Young Singers of Patrimonio del Norte and will be marked by the release of the group’s first DVD and the first international tour.
